Eight members of The Hills reunited at the MTV Video Music Awards in Manhattan to help announce the cable network’s 2019 reboot of the retro reality show.
It’s been eight years since the LA-based gang was last in the spotlight for the Laguna Beach spin-off (2006-2010), which was criticised for fabricating storylines.
The 30-second preview – which aired during the ceremony – featured LA landscapes, a remix of the Unwritten theme song, and the quote: “It’s like we’re all growing up, it’s weird.”
New Beginnings is said to focus on “the original castmembers, their children, and friends as they follow their personal and professional lives.”

The Hills are alive — maybe. A source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly that MTV is looking into a potential relaunch of the hit show after seeing the “mega success” of its Jersey Shore reboot.
But there’s a catch: A reunion would come sans Lauren Conrad. “The rest of the crew is all still friends besides her,” another insider says. “Everyone else is down to do it.”
That includes Audrina Patridge. “I’m not opposed to it,” she tells Us of filming another season of the show, which also starred Kristin Cavallari. “It would really depend on what it was going to be. So, we’ll see.”
The Hills aired from 2006 to 2010 and followed the social circles of Conrad, 32, Patridge, 33, Cavallari, 31, Bosworth, 31, Port, 33, and Montag, 33, who all resided in Los Angeles at the time.
